What is the Purdy Connection?

It's the home page of Harry Purdy.
I live about 40 Km from Canada's Capitol, Ottawa.
Carleton Place is a small town in Eastern Ontario. It has a population
of about 9100 people. It also has the dubious position of being a bedroom community
for the Federal Government and high tech industries of Ottawa.
I lived and worked in Germany off and on for 29 years;
first as a member of NATO in Westfalen at Soest from 1957 to 1960,
then in Hemer from 1964 to 1967.
I was back in Germany in the Black Forest at Lahr from 1971 to 1976 as a member of NATO.

I left the military in 1976 and was a member of the civilian component of Canadian Forces Europe
for a number of years  as a radio/TV announcer at the Canadian Forces Radio and Television Network
until the fall of 1988. I then worked for Canadian Marconi Company as a Technical Assistant in their
Precision Measuring Equipment (PME), Commercial Communications Division (CCD),
Calibration Standards Laboratory (CSL) at Lahr, Germany.
I returned to Canada and Carleton Place in the fall of 1993.
